I’m a mother and does that mean I have to end my career?

Is giving birth to a child a stopper to my career? Will I be able to make a comeback at least after a few years? If at all I make a comeback, what if I give birth to another child? Will I ever continue my career?

These questions thronged my mind when I gave birth to my child. However, I was on my maternity break concentrating on my child’s growth. It was challenging to get back into my shape and gradually, I realized I need to resign my job to improve my health. I became a full-time homemaker and spent time with my child. But something was making me restless.

My book “The 5 Secrets to Sustainable Self-Motivation” is a compilation of the struggles I went through and the ones I observed in others’ lives. Protagonist Vibha is a woman whom you would see as your own reflection.

Excerpt from my book As a mother, Vibha was enjoying every second with her daughter and she seemed to be the happiest mother in the world. “Motherhood has taught me many new things in life. It has made me strong and has foreclosed my fears about the future too.” She ruminated on the new role. The new normal was “More care, more patience, More work, more dreams, More dedication, more talents to be discovered.” A few months later, she had to return to her office and that was when she started missing her baby. Walking the tightrope between work and family It was getting increasingly difficult for her to continue her job as her travel and the frequency of travel shot up day by day due to which she didn’t get time to spend with her daughter. Every time she had to face a problem, she asked one question. “Should the problem smile at me or should I smile at it?” But this time, her answer was “Let the problem smile at me”. Unable to balance her personal and professional life, she decided to quit her job and did it off her own bat. Melancholy descended over her with this thought. On the last day of her office, her colleagues greeted her and gave her a grand party. Her Senior manager told her that there’s always a seat reserved for her in the office yet she was unhappy that she had let the problem smile at her.”

I’m sure most of you would have encountered such situations in life and would have lost your peace of mind. But not anymore. Don’t worry. You needn’t take as long as I did and needn’t even go through the rest of the struggles I went through. That’s where “The 5 Secrets to Sustainable Self-Motivation” come to your rescue.

In my journey of struggles, I discovered the power that kept me going and helped me conquer the problems was “Self-Motivation”. It’s a gift within us to unleash our true potential to find great solutions. If you can sustain that magical power, irrespective of your career, you’ll definitely win over the challenges.

This book is close to my heart as I uncovered these secrets with my experience in life and observation of others’ lives. I implemented these secrets and I’m proud to say that I’m successful in my professional and personal life. So, it’s practical and doable. So, this proves that your career need not be at stake if you are a mother.

Moreover, in this book, I dismantle the misconception that non-fiction books get boring at some point in time and they cannot be explained with a story format. I know you might be sceptical about it. But my book reviews will prove my point. Here are the reviews: Well penned I loved how the author mixed up both the fictional and non-fictional elements in this book. I usually stay away from self-help books as I find them boring with too much of information which I might not relate to. But as I read few of the reviews and the blurb of this book, I picked this one. I have observed that the author has a unique way of conveying her message. How Vibha handles this change in her life and what she does to handle the several pressures and also fulfill her wishes is the plot of the book. I loved it. The book is readable on few hours and the tips I gained is immense. Thanks a lot. Recommended for all the housewives or the women out there who are facing similar issues. It will be helpful. -Amudhavan Karuppiah Unputdownable I loved how the author tried to motivate women by giving the example of the protagonist Vibha. The instances are relatable and intriguing. I loved the section “ Key takeaways and checklist “ after every chapter. The book is lucidly written and it’s a must read for every woman. -Debaruna Ghosh Helpful The book “ The 5 secrets to sustainable motivation “ is a self-help book told in the form of a fictional story. The protagonist of the book is Vibha and the author gave a vivid picture about her life. The author mentioned different stages of the protagonist’s life which is filled with situations which I see around at my home or am acutely aware of. There are so many tips I picked up from this book which are unisex and I’m sure they will be useful for me too. It’s highly recommended. -Debjit Pathak Inspiring read The story of the book is well penned. I liked how the author portrayed the character. It was relatable. The beauty of this book is the crisp chapters and the plotline where the author made me put myself into the shoes of Vibha.
